Kat joined the George Vet Group in September 2011 after studying at Bristol, where she intercalated in microbiology.She was raised in the cow shed of her family farm, Actonelm Holsteins over in Monmouth. Kat is Chairman of Olveston YFC, is a Gloucestershire stock judging chairman and an active member of the West Midlands Holstein Young Breeders.
Kat is interested in all areas of farm practice. She is involved with the practice's beef group as she and her husband have recently started up a new herd of Aberdeen Angus "Elm View." They have both had successes in the show ring and have invested in some Canadian embryos. However, Kat's main passion is dairy young stock rearing. She launched The George Heifer Rearing Scheme in April 2012.
Kat was recently awarded a MSD Ruminent Bursary to investigate colostrums cleanliness and its effect on calf immunity. Kat has presented a paper at BCVA 2014, as well as having had a number of articles both in the Farmers Guardian and Dairy Farmer. She has been working with MSD and their campaign Keeping Britain's Youngstock Healthy and in 2016 achieved her Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice Cattle.
