Acupuncture can be used to prevent and treat a variety of issues, from the geriatric to the performance horse. It is usually used as one of a course of treatments to manage pain (e.g joint or back pain, sacro-iliac pain), laminitis, alleviate allergies or to promote rehabilitation post injury or surgery and to generally improve ridden behaviour and flexibility.

How does it work?

Needles are used to stimulate nerve endings deep inbetween skin and muscles at acupoints (where small vessels and free nerve endings occur), to modulate natural hormones and endorphins, producing local and whole bodysystem effects.

Is it safe?

When done by a trained professional, this is a safe procedure that can be used alongside all usual therapies and does not require a withdrawal period.
