many cases of lungworm are currently being found in samples sent into the Veterinary Laboratory Agencies at the moment. These have involved cattle of all ages. If you have unvaccinated stock that are or recently have been grazing, please consider the risk of lungworm. We can test muck samples in the practice laboratory if you are worried or suspicious.

If you are using a program of timed wormer treatments, please check that the animals are still properly covered, as this is the time of year when the build-up of larvae on the pasture and therefore the risk of infection is at its greatest.

If you have any queries over lungworm control, please give the practice a ring and speak to one of the vets
