These vary widely from farm to farm. Feed cost per kilogram live weight gain can vary from 28p to 50p per pig, so the impact on production will be different for every unit. Mild respiratory disease will result in decreased feed intake, decreased daily live weight gain (DLWG), deteriorating FCR and the necessity to sell pigs at a lower finisher weight. However a hidden bonus of mild respiratory disease is a reduction in back fat (P2 value) of the finished carcase!
